Meadows teeming with alpine wildflowers, lush high mountain forests, pristine lakes and streams are a few of the treats waiting the adventurous backpacker. Park City's three local mountain resorts maintain hundreds of miles of hiking trails varying from gentle to more challenging terrain for all abilities and fitness levels. For longer trips, try a few days exploring in the nearby Unita or Wasatch ranges. These Rocky Mountain ranges offer the best of backpacking in the West.
Popular hikes include nearby Kings Peak, the tallest point in Utah. This beautiful two-day hike is an ideal summit opportunity without technical climbing challenges. Other great hikes include the Wasatch Crest Trail and Tokewana Peak. Camping is plentiful though reservations are suggested during the busy summer months of July and August.
