The State of Utah is filled with beautiful mountain valleys, but one of the most spectacular is the Heber Valley lying approximately fifty miles east of Salt Lake City. Midway is one of the picturesque communities located in the Heber Valley and well worth a trip. Built as a "midway" fort between two existing communities, the name stuck.

The Heber Valley was originally settled by a fur-trapping group led by Etienne Provost in 1824, the Valley was first known as Provo – the river that runs through it still bears this name. Still dotting the valley landscape are several of the original communities including Midway. This charming little town is located less than twenty miles from Park City, Utah.

In the beginning, the economy of Midway was based on livestock and farming, and then building materials became important. As more settlers moved in, more businesses were established to service their needs. The early mining in Park City also played a factor in Midway's development. Because of the numerous ninety-degree-plus hot-water springs in the Midway area, several resorts were developed.

Agriculture is still important in the Midway area, however, tourism and recreation is fast becoming a significant factor. Popular events include the Midway Swiss Days Festivals. Local recreation sites include golf courses, Deer Creek Reservoir and the Wasatch Mountain State Park.
