Weber River

The Weber River starts its descend high on the western slope of the Uinta Mountains. One of the larger streams located in the Uinta Mountains, the Weber River is in close proximity to large populated areas of Utah. This makes the Weber a favorite place for those anglers who like to do a little fly-fishing after work and for others who have more time.

There are a variety of fish just waiting to be caught in the Weber River including cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, brown trout and whitefish. This is a favorite fly-fishing river for many due to its ambiance and charm. As the Weber River meanders from the mountains through the valley, it is lined with cottonwoods and other vegetation. Much of the river flows through private land, so be careful not to trespass.

Parts of the Weber River have been damned and the waters of the river make Echo Reservoir and Rockport Reservoir. Close to this river, you will find various communities that provide campgrounds, picnic areas, motels, hotels, cafes and restaurants.

The Weber River is labeled by many as the only chance the angler has of finding true solitude so close to the Greater Salt Lake Area.
