Rockport Reservoir
Rockport Reservoir in Utah is also known as Wanship Reservoir. It was formed when a dam was built near Wanship on the Weber River. This Reservoir offers first class, year-round fishing, swimming, boating, waterskiing, sail boarding and sail boating. This is a great location for a summer camping adventure.
Midway between Kamas, Utah and Coalville, Utah, you will find Rockport Reservoir. This large lake, which was formed when a damn was built across the Weber River, offers great summer and winter recreation opportunities.
The entire Reservoir shoreline is owned by the State of Utah, making public access unrestricted, but there are fees charged to use any of the many park facilities. There are eight campgrounds offering both primitive and developed campsites and in the winter, ice fishing is a popular activity.
The Rockport Reservoir is just five miles south of the community of Wanship and sits at an elevation of 6,040 feet. The Reservoir has limited shade but the fishing is good. You can catch brown trout, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, tiger trout and yellow perch at the Rockport Reservoir. Be sure to check with local officials for the current fishing and camping regulations.
