Uinta Mountains

The Uinta Mountain Range is home to the tallest mountains of Utah, many peaks reaching over 13,000 feet. Stretching east to west below the Wyoming and Utah borders, the Uinta Mountains cover 100 miles in length. Visitors to these magnificent mountains enjoy hiking, horseback riding, fishing, cross-country skiing, as well as biking and snowmobiling in designated areas. You can camp pretty much wherever you see fit and you will find developed campgrounds at the end of most roads into the mountain range.

Explore the Uinta Mountain Range and find open meadows of wildflowers, the highest peak in Utah known as Kings Peak, trails through alpine forests, crystal clear streams and lakes, and abundant wildlife. A majority of the Uinta Mountain Range is designated National Forest encompassed by Ashley, Wasatch-Cache, and Cache National Forests. The center of the mountain range is protected as the High Uinta Wilderness Area. The Wasatch Front cushions the cities of Salt Lake, Provo, and Ogden on the west, making the range an easy destination for city goers on the weekends. You can access this beautiful land by Hwy 150 on the west and Hwy 191 on the east.
