For a comprehensive, fun and educational look at the history of Park City, Utah, take the time to tour the Park City Museum. Located at 518 Main Street, the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm and on Sundays from 12 noon to 6 pm. You can take a self-guided tour of the Museum or arrange to have a guided tour.
Visitors to the Park City Museum can experience a part of the history of Park City. After you step into the building, you can choose from four major exhibits. If you want to venture underground, you can step back in time in a recreated exhibit of the Silver King Mine. Here you can experience everything the early day miners went through as they toiled in the mines.
If you want to climb aboard an original stagecoach and imagine you are traveling across the lands behind a team of horses, you can do that here. There is also an exhibit depicting the transformation of Park City from a tent city to a township.
In the museum, you will also find exhibits about the history of skiing and how Park City became so famous for this fun winter sport. In addition, check out the artifacts and remnants of the original city jail.
The Park City Museum has a gift shop offering books on local history, t-shirts, historic photographs and much more.
