Based in Heber City, Utah, the Heber Valley Railroad operates trains that travel across the farmland of Heber Valley and follow the shore of Dear Creek Lake before descending into an awe-inspiring canyon. From the City of Heber to the Provo Canyon, it will be a trip to remember.
The Heber Valley Railroad celebrated its 100th birthday in July 2007. This historic railroad has managed to stand the test of time and through continued efforts by the local citizenry, the Heber Valley Railroad continues to serve tourists and locals alike to a unique and fun view of the Heber Valley farmland and the Provo Canyon.
The main depot is located in Heber City, Utah. Other passenger terminals are located at Soldier Hollow and Vivian Park in Provo Canyon. Despite its short length of sixteen miles, it takes approximately three hours to take a full round trip. Part of what you can view as you chug along behind age-old steam engines is Mount Timpanogos, Cascade Mountain, Deer Creek Dam and Reservoir, Provo River, Sundance Ski Resort, Tate Barn, and Soldier Hollow. This is also a great way to do some wildlife viewing.
