Bridal Veil Falls

Perhaps one of the most popular names for a waterfall of any major height is "Bridal Veil Falls". Utah is no exception to the number of states that have a waterfall named "Bridal Veil". Utah's famous falls is located at the south end of Provo Canyon, Utah and is a 607-foot tall double cataract waterfall.

Bridal Veil Falls in Utah was such a popular attraction that in 1967 an aerial tramway was built to take passengers to the top of the waterfall. It was a small, six-passenger tram whose entire function was to transport passengers from the bottom to the top of Bridal Veil Falls and back again. Regrettably, in 1996, the aerial tram was destroyed by an avalanche and has not yet been rebuilt. When the tramway was operating, it was considered to be the steepest aerial tramway in the world.

Another mode of transportation for visitors was the Heber Creeper tourist train; however, it too no longer provides service past Bridal Veil Falls. The rail bed has been converted to a recreational trail, so hiking to the Falls and beyond is easily done on the old railway.

A small visitor's park has been established on the west side of the falls and is aptly named Bridal Veil Park. Both the Falls and the Park are accessible via US Highway 189.
