Over the last ten years, the entire State of Utah has experienced tremendous growth. It has also become a sought after location for businesses. As a result the surrounding areas including Park City, have also experience strong growth and a steadily increasing economy.
Park City continues to enjoy a strong economy. Tourism in Park City has continued to grow steadily due to the exposure from the 2002 Winter Olympics. Park City is diversifying away from its ski-dependent economy and is developing into a year-round tourist and second-home/golf community based economy. In Summit County, tourism is the largest single component of the economic base. It provides more jobs in travel and recreation related employment than in any other category. More than fifty-three percent of all of the total employment of Summit County is based on tourism.
Park City is also close to two world renowned hospitals and the city itself is home to two large public libraries.
